Satellite Transmissions Research Updated On

The Telecommunications Vision Through Satellites

To Whom It May Concern,

Date Issued: 07/03/23

This research proposal focuses on Satellite Communications as a means to revolutionize telecommunications, ensuring high-quality and sustainable connectivity at minimal or no cost through collaborative efforts. The insights gained from this research will deepen my understanding of telecommunications, complementing my existing qualifications as a CCNA-certified professional.

Leveraging my Diploma in Computer Systems Engineering, I have applied my technical expertise to analyze network infrastructures, particularly in relation to classified satellite communications at both local and global levels. My research aims to eliminate reliance on costly intermediaries who drive up expenses regardless of network efficiency, often making services inaccessible to clients despite their financial commitments. I am eager to receive expert guidance and mentorship to enhance the practical execution of this research if given the opportunity.

Planned Collaborations

To bridge the digital divide and contribute to the amendment of outdated networking laws, I intend to collaborate with the following local organizations:

  1. Lesotho Electricity Company (LEC)

  2. Lesotho Revenue Authority (LRA)

  3. Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA) and ISPs

  4. Ministry of Science & Technology

  5. Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC)

  6. Ministry of Health

  7. Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS)

Objectives & Impact

The core objective is to deliver high-speed internet access nationwide at reduced or no cost by minimizing reliance on wired infrastructure, thereby fostering a more eco-friendly and accessible digital environment for all Basotho. ISPs will continue to generate revenue by catering to businesses and large organizations while ensuring affordable access for individuals.

A crucial aspect of this initiative is establishing regulatory frameworks for Lesotho’s networking infrastructure. These regulations will ensure:

  • Seamless local and international telecommunications at low cost.

  • Recognition of internet access as a fundamental human right.

  • Stronger data security and privacy measures, requiring ISPs and other stakeholders to comply with strict legal provisions when handling user data.

Additionally, this initiative aims to encourage Basotho youth to pursue careers in Satellite and Space Exploration, fostering expertise in aerospace technology, satellite design, and implementation. For me personally, this research presents an opportunity to expand my engineering portfolio while creating employment avenues for young innovators in Lesotho. Empowering youth participation will help drive the country’s inevitable technological transformation and ensure financial stability for over 50% of Basotho actively engaged in the modern economy.

Personal Contributions & Ethical Considerations

To strengthen my expertise in telecommunications, I have engaged in various DIY projects focused on device modifications for educational purposes. I uphold ethical standards and do not intend to infringe on anyone’s intellectual property. Any concerns regarding my research can be addressed by governing bodies, and I fully accept any regulatory measures taken against misconduct.

Recognizing the importance of protecting intellectual property, I propose confidentiality agreements to safeguard innovative ideas while ensuring mutual benefits for all collaborating entities. Transparency and teamwork are key to realizing this vision, and I am open to sharing detailed strategies on how each stakeholder will benefit from this initiative rather than perceiving it as a competitive threat.

Public Engagement & Outreach

To increase awareness and engagement, I plan to document this project through video blogs (Vlogs) on my personal YouTube channel, featuring renowned industry experts to reach a wider audience.
